Supporting Arms

We gratefully acknowledge the special contributions of the following amazing individuals and organizations:

Graduate students in the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University
who volunteer their time to tutor and mentor children in the Weed & Seed Out-of-School Programs and members of Team Hope.  They organized and launched a successful benefit on December 11, raising much-needed funds to help sustain the Initiative's programs.  A special thanks to Eric Melancon and Jessica Morse, the team of Volunteers and the Businesses and Donors who not only made generous contributions but gave so much of their time and talent to support the children in Greater Donnelly.  Two recent graduates, Frank Norcross and YuhWenLing have funded and launched Donnelly BikeWorks , which was an important part of this summer's program, providing camp and community participants with training in bike repair and life skills, modeled after a successful program in which YuhWen participated in Chicago, Blackstone Bike Works.  A very special thanks to Betteanne Bertrand who supplied dozens of bicycles to "seed" and launch Donnelly Bike Works and to Captain Amantea and the Trenton Police Department, who are providing on-going support.

The Princeton Area Community Foundation which has provided a sustaining grant for the Choices mentoring and gang-resistance program, which now will thanks to this much-needed donation continue for the rest of the school year on an expanded three-nights-a-week schedule.

The Trenton Police Department which is provided the principal support for this summer's Explorers Camp for 65 needy and at-risk boys and girls 13-17 years old.  The Mercer County Sherriff's Department donated 40 locks and safety helmets to Donnelly Bike Works. The PBA, the Superior Officers' Association, and the Latino Police Officers' Association all have contributed donations, and just as importantly, time and talent to the community's children.

Princeton Blairstown which  provided a one-week camp opportunity to 40 children in last summer's Out-of-School program and is providing their leadership program one day a week to 20 children, after school.  Staff members of Princeton Blairstown also generously provided supplies and clothing so that the children could attend the camp and continue to support the children in the community in many other ways

The Young Lawyers Committee of the Mercer County Bar Association which has embraced Greater Donnelly and selected our organization as the beneficiary of its 2009 bowling fund raiser.

Mercer Community College 4-H which provides transportation for, and gives children in the community, an opportunity every Tuesday during the fall and winter to work with, learn about, and ride horses

Trenton P.A.L., Inc. which has provided a boxing ring for Team Hope and a softball field, and continues to sponsor the boxing program.
